The sound of the rain is very calm. You were standing in the middle of the rain, holding your nichirin blade, you look up to the sky and close your eyes. Standing in the middle of the beautiful rain, not even one person realized your action. You were crying in the middle of the rain, nobody notice your tears. You cries along with the falling rain, until the rain stop, you wipe away your tears and created a fake gentle smile that has fooled a lot of people. The good aroma of petrichor after rain makes you feel better. You smile for everyone but deep inside you, only you know how much suffer you've been through.
On a gloomy day, you are assigned for a mission to hunt a demon at the northern area. An upper moon demon, but you are not assigned alone. You are actually assigned to accompany a hashira to hunt down the demon. You don't even imagine that the hashira you'll be accompany is actually the almighty Rock Hashira. You're surprised to find out that you would accompany the Rock Hashira, you thought you don't have to accompany him. After all, he's the strongest hashira of all, and that he's... Big. You just agreed without going against Oyakata-sama's word. You get yourself all prepared and waiting for the Rock Hashira in front of the Ubuyashiki mansion's gate.
“Sorry to kept you waiting.” a sound of a husky man voice.
“Ah, it's fine.” you smile at him.
“You must be (y/n)? I'm Himejima Gyoumei, the Rock Hashira.” he said as he bow.
“Nice to meet you, Himejima-san. Yes, (y/n) is me.” you bow in a polite way as you smile gently.
“This would be our first time to go on a mission together.” he said.
You smile nodding your head gently. You noticed the tears on his eyes, you wanted to ask but you have no guts to ask him about it. Afraid if that would related to his past, you stay silent. Both of you heading towards the northern area, you keep silent the whole way and so did he. You don't know what you should talk about, he keep silent and focus on his way. You let out a deep sigh and he noticed it. He turn to look at you, even though he is blind you know he could see you with his sense.
“Are you fine?” he asked.
“eh? I'm fine, why? Are you fine?” you asked.
“hm I'm fine. You don't sounds like you're fine, so I just asked.” he said.
“Don't worry about me, ah probably you don't even feel that way but I am truly fine.” you smile gently at him and wipe his tears away.
“You.. Always this sad?” you asked.
He stay silent and hold your hand as you wipe his tears. He show you a simple smile and that's shocked you. You blushes and move back, you look at other way and keep silent the whole way towards Northern area. Once you arrived, both of you stay at an inn, there's only left one room and you decided to take it and have your day and night together with the Rock Hashira. You lay down on a futon and close your eyes, you feels uncomfortable as the Rock Hashira just lean on the wall and doing nothing. You try to peek a bit by opening your right eyes and saw him doing nothing. You can't even read his mind, he is blind and you don't know where or what is he looking.
A few moments later, you didn't realize yourself has fall asleep. You sleep so comfortably, your skirt is slightly slick, showing your thigh. The Rock Hashira might be blind but he can sense it, he take a blanket and cover your body with it. You move a bit as you feels something touching you. You open your eyes and find out that the Rock Hashira is holding the blanket. You blink your eyes and smile, you thought that it could be a dream for the Rock Hashira to be that close to you. You wrap your arms around his neck and smiles, you peck his forehead then you fall back to lay on the futon. You close your eyes but then you think that this is way feels too real to be a dream. You open your eyes again and find out the Rock Hashira is still stunned at what just had happened. You suddenly get up quickly and scream.
“kyaaa!! I.. I'm sorry! I thought it was a dream..” you said nervously, covering your blushing face with your hands.
“..It's.. Hm it's fine. If that would make you smile happily..” he said as he lean back on the wall, looking outside of the window.
“e-etto.. Himejima-san, I didn't mean to do that just now. I'm very sorry. It's almost night now, w-we should get ready..” you said as you fix your uniform and wear your haori.
“Yes, we should. Let's head out..” he get up and heading out.
You follow him and heading out of the inn. Both of you walk from a store to another store, you were carefully watch your surrounding. Suddenly you heard a voice of a women screaming, you run quickly without telling the Rock Hashira. You saw a demon trying to devour a women, quickly you draw your blade and cut his neck. But then you widened your eyes, you just noticed that the women has an incredible power. You turned around, she almost hit you with a long sharp nails but the Rock Hashira appear to protect you. You feels relief yet confusion, usually you protect everyone around you with ease but this is the first time you were protected. His tears is still on his cheeks, you looked down in frustration. You wanted to do something for him as well, he fought well to protect you until he got several injuries.
You jump in front of him and grip tight your blade. Using your ultimate breath technique to protect him, you've promised yourself that you'll do anything to protect him as well. You can't effort to lose another love in your life. Yes, a love. You love him, you've fall in love with the Rock Hashira. In your past, you've lose your love one, your fiance. He dies protecting you, your family dies protecting you. Because you were born with the blood of a Marechi. Demon would love to eat your blood and you. But you were protected, that's why now you've decided to stop being protected and stop being weak. You do all you can, you train yourself well to become stronger than anyone else. You've become stronger than you expected but right now, you feel like you're a weakling being protected by someone.
“(y/n)!? Why did you interfere? Stay back! It's dangerous for you!” he shouted.
“...” you silent for awhile. “Himejima-san, if I tell you about something, I hope you understand it.” you said as you keep fight back with the demon.
“I like you, Himejima-san! I want to protect you and touch our fate. Your overflowing life with tears, the dent in your heart, I want to wipe away those tears and I want to fill it with happiness.” you said, while fighting but then the demon kick you hard on the stomach, making you fall back. Himejima catches you in his embrace.
“I want to link our hearts together and share our pain. Whatever kind of fate, whatever kind of sadness, I'll make sure you'll smile and change the world with our beautiful smile and feelings. Himejima-san, I want to be with you, forever.” you wanted to cry but you can't because there's no rain.
“(y/n).. Your words are the most beautiful things I've heard in my entire life. I might not share the same feeling as you now, but probably in the future.. Who knows..” he said and put you aside, he fought the demon and slay the demon off.
You stunned, you keep holding back your tears. You looked down a sad looking eyes is shown, the Rock Hashira walk towards you but you avoid him. You thank him for saving your life, he look at you in confusion. You said that you'd take a walk at some place, you then walk away leaving him alone. You went to huge tree behind the shrine, you started to sing a song to call out the rain so that you can cry along with it.

You sang the song, a few moments later the sound of the rain could be heard. The Rock Hashira heard the rain sound and a beautiful voice who sang a song calling for the rain. He walk towards the voice and fount that it was your presence. He stop behind a tree looking at you singing in the middle of the rain, he noticed an unusual water overflow your cheek. It isn't rain but your tears, he noticed your tears. Finally someone noticed the tears on your face, he keep silent just looking at you from far. You look up at the sky as you always do and cries as much as you can until the rain finally stop. You wipe away your tears and put on a fake smile that always fooled people.
The Rock Hashira walk towards you and slowly embrace you from behind. You surprised and tries to escape but you can't. He is way too strong, at last you give up but still silent. You let out a deep sigh and close your eyes, leaning your back on his body. Himejima turn you around, he look at you with no tears and a little smile. He apology for what he had said before. You blink your eyes looking at him in confusion. He hold your hand tightly.
“(y/n), I'm really sorry that I've said something like that to you, but after seeing you in the middle of the rain, I think I've found my answer. I like you too (y/n). But I'm blind and you know that. There's lot more good-looking guy out there that want a beautiful girl like you and-” he hasn't finish his word but you lift your feet up and plant a soft kiss on his lips.
“Himejima-san, appearance isn't what I'm looking for in love. Your heart, your kindness, is what I'm looking at. After all, I'm sincerely in love with you. Just give me your love is more than enough. I love you, Himejima-san.” for the first time, you show him your true happy smile.
“(y/n), me too. I'm sincerely love you.” he hug you tightly.
Both of you went back to the inn and clean yourself. Himejima lay on the futon next to you. You lean your head on his chest, hugging him to sleep. Both of you are so happy with your new life and loved one. The tomorrow comes, the sun rises and a good weather to start a new day with someone you love. You and the Rock Hashira went back to the Ubuyashiki mansion and reported to Oyakata-sama. All of the other Hashira is gathering there. The Rock Hashira take the opportunity to make an announcement that he would marry you within the weeks. You were surprised and the others are the same. They congratulated both of you, you blushes hardly and hold Himejima's hands. Both of you smiling at each other with a happy face.
