Chapter 1 : Trusted
Haruna watched as Kajimoto rose from his desk and turned to her, who sat in the desk next to him.
"Are you ready Haruna? Hanamura-sensei said for me to take you home."
"Hai." Haruna was a bit frightened by the fact that a boy was escorting her everywhere but she was really beginning to trust Kajimoto. He had fought off boys for her all day, and he kept giving her a smile that she had only seen from Mai.
"How did you like your first day of school?" Kajimoto asked as they exited the school.
"It was...nice." She said.
"Hanamura-sensei actually asked me to take you somewhere. Where would you like to go?"
Haruna was shocked, why was her aunt making her spend the day with a boy! But then again something about Kajimoto that told her he really wasn't going to hurt her.
Kajimoto took Haruna silence as an 'I don't know.'
"Are you hungry."
"Hai." Haruna said softly. Haruna was about to pull the restaurant door open when someone came running out of it. Kajimoto quickly grabbed Haruna wrist and pulled her out of harms way. When the commotion was over Haruna gasped as he hadn't let go of her wrist. She jumped back and pulled away.
"Haruna, gomen. It's just you would have been run over by that man."
Haruna looked down. "Hai."
They went inside and Haruna sat down in the most abandoned area of the restaurant, while Kajimoto ordered the food.
Kajimoto watched as Haruna quietly ate her food across from him. This mission Hanamura-sensei had given him was becoming personal. He wasn't trying to gain her trust because she told him to, he was doing it because he wanted to. He really wanted to help her with her fear problem. But then again if she didn't help her over her fear problem and she only trusted him he could have her to himself. Wait! Was he feeling jealous? Could He like her?
She was cute. He thought smiling.
Haruna saw him smiling at her and stopped eating. "What is it?" She said shyly.
"Nothing." He said then returned to his food.
As they finished and began to walk down the street again Kajimoto asked her again what she wanted to do. As he did Haruna found herself transfixed by an arcade across the street.
"The Arcade? Do you want to go there?" He asked as he noticed her looking at it.
"Hai." She said quietly.
Kajimoto smiled as he escorted her across the road.
As they entered the arcade Haruna eyes grew wide. She had never seen anything like it, all the lights, the noise of laughter, the place spoke fun.
Kajimoto paid as he watched Haruna play multiple games. As she stood up from a racing game she noticed a crain game. She walked over and marveled at all the stuffed animals inside. A certain, yet plain teddy bear caught her eye.
"Do you want to play?" Kajimoto asked.
"Hai." She said softly. He showed her how to play then gave her the money.
Haruna bit her tounge as she went for the teddy bear. Sadly the crain dropped it, to Haruna dismay.
"Hey Haruna, why don't you go get something out of the snack machine? I'll be there in a minute."
Haruna nodded and walked away. Haruna scanned the snack machine and found the thing she wanted.
Suddenly two second years decided they wanted to hit on Haruna.
"Hey there pretty girl? What are you doing here?" one of them said. Haruna turned around and saw the two boys and was instantly filled with fear. She looked down.
"What are you doing after this? Why not come with us." The other said.
"P-Please leave me a-alone." she said shaking.
"Ah, look, she's scared." The first laughed.
Suddenly Kajimoto stepped in front of Haruna. "Is there a problem here?" He asked.
"You! Your Takahisa Kajimoto!" They said before running off.
"Haruna, are you alright?" Kajimoto asked turning to her.
Haruna shook her head.
"Here." Kajimoto pulled a teddy bear out from behind his back. The teddy bear. "Consider it a peace offering, a promise that I won't ever hurt you."
Haruna slowly took the bear and held it tight. For the first time Kajimoto saw her smile. "How did you get it?" She asked.
"I'm good at those games." He said. "Are you ready to leave?"
"Hai." Haruna said.
They left the Arcade and while fidgeting with her bear, Haruna accidentally stepped onto the road while the light was green, and right into the path of an approaching car.
"Haruna!" Kajimoto yelled.
Haruna looked up and saw the coming car. She gasped just as Kajimoto grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards him and out of danger.
He sighed as he realized everything was ok. He was surprised to find Haruna had not let go of him, instead she was hanging on to his shirt and shaking. He looked at her with a happy smile.
"Come on. Let's go somewhere else. Somewhere with less traffic." He said as he took her hands and removed them from his shirt.
As they walked down the busy street Haruna held tight to Kajimotos sleeve.
He had saved her twice, she trusted him.
He took her to a park. She sat down under a tree while he bought them both a drink. He handed her the drink then sat down next to her.
He smiled as he watched her take a drink then play with her teddy bear.
"Arigatou...Kajimoto.." Haruna said.
Haruna had said his name! That was the first time.
"For what?" He asked.
"For saving me, and my bear. It's the first gift I've ever received. Father never gave me anything."
"Your welcome." He said with a smile.
"Also for gaining my trust." She said with a smile.
"Huh? You trust me?" Kajimoto said.
"Hai." She giggled.
Kajimoto couldn't help but smile.
"Haruna, your a very beautiful girl, because of that, a lot of boys will like you."
Haruna blushed. Kajimoto continued. "But, you have no need to be scared, I'll protect you."
Haruna blushed even more, then looked at her bear.
"Arigatou." She said quietly. When Kajimoto laid down and looked up Haruna glanced at him. He was rather attractive. Was she having a love story? Like those she read? But she always believed those were purely fiction.
Could two people truly love each other in real life? She didn't know.
"Umm...Kajimoto?" Haruna said quietly.
"Hai?"
"W-What is tennis?"
Kajimoto was dumbfounded. What is tennis? How could she not know? "Basically, it's a sport with two or four players and they hit a yellow ball back and forth with a.." He reached for his tennis bag and pulled out his racquet. "..racquet." He said handing it to Haruna.
Haruna carefully took it and looked it over.
"Is it fun?" She asked.
"Hai." He said.
Suddenly they heard a clock sound off in the distance. Kajimoto looked at his watch, it was 6:00, and getting dark.
"I need to be taking you home."
"Ok." Haruna said giving him back his racquet.
"Would you like to play sometime?" He asked.
Haruna looked down and pictured flying tennis balls pelting her. She slowly shook her head, no.
"Alright. Shall we leave?" He asked.
"H-Hai." Haruna said quietly.
The walk to Haruna Aunts house was somewhat talkative. Kajimoto found out Haruna was very ignorant of many things, being as she had been locked up her whole life, but she did enjoy classical music, which she heard from her fathers small gatherings, and reading stories about happy families and joyful romances.
Soon they were walking up the stairs to Aois Apartment (She lived on campus because its a boarding school(or at least I think it's a boarding school. It looks like one in the episodes. That school is freakin huge!(Well, since I don't know for sure we'll 'pretend' it's a boarding school.))). Haruna shared the apartment with Aoi because she was to frightened to be separated from her aunt, and put with a room mate that she didn't even know. Of course when Aoi explained Haruna situation to the school staff they didn't have a problem with it and Aoi had an extra guest room anyway.
Kajimoto gave Haruna a smile as they said their goodbyes.
Haruna went inside with a smile.
"Ah! What timing. Dinner is on the table. Go upstairs and wash up." Aoi said as she came in.
"Hai." Haruna said happily and ran upstairs. As she washed her hands her thoughts traveled to Kajimoto. As she thought of him she couldn't help but blush, she also found that her heart would beat faster. What was this strange feeling? She had never felt it before.
Haruna fidgeted with a dinner.
"Did you have fun today?" Aoi asked from across the table.
"Hai." Haruna said quietly.
"Haruna, is something wrong? You've been fidgeting with your food all this time.
"Nothings wrong. Aunt Aoi, is love real? Like boy/girl love? Does it really exsist?"
Aoi looked confused for a moment then suddenly she wore a big smile. "Do you have a crush on Kajimoto? Ah,
how wonderful to be related to my wonderful captain if you were to get married!" She said as she drifted off.
"Aunt Aoi!...what's a crush?" Haruna asked.
"Oh, a crush is when you feel a certain liking for someone."
"Liking, like friends?"
"No, like a small hint of love, as a boyfriend or something."
Haruna pondered this. "I think I know what you mean. I've read about these things, I've just never really thought about them being real."
Aoi gave Haruna a smile. "Haruna, I know you've been raised in a household of hate and no love, but not
everyone in the world is like your father. Love is real, and I believe you have developed a small crush on Kajimoto." She said the last part with sparkles in her eyes.
"Aunt Aoi!" Haruna said laughing.

Chapter 2 : Fear
A month had passed since Haruna had started going to Jyosei Shonan, and still the only boy she fully trusted was Takahisa Kajimoto, although she did get along with the tennis team. She was still overly nervous when cluttered with to many males. For this reason she would often walk through school hiding behind Kajimoto and hanging onto the back of his shirt.
"Haruna, Are you ready to go to class?" Kajimoto asked as he came into Aois office to retrieve Haruna. She would often stay in Aois office and read while she waited to practice to end.
"Hai!" Haruna said cheerfully as she looked up from her book.
Haruna held tight to Kajimotos shirt as they walked down the hallway of the school.
"Haruna, I'll be right back." Kajimoto said as he left her at her locker while he went to his. Haruna stayed at her locker and waited. He seemed to be taking longer today. Haruna knew where his locker was so she would go to him. She was about to turn a corner when she heard Kajimotos voice.
"No, I don't get annoyed by all the guys that like Haruna!" She heard him say.
"You act like you do." She heard Reijis voice.
"Yeah, If we didn't know any better-" Youhei said.
"-we'd say you like her." Kouhei continued.
The statement took Kajimoto by surprise.
"Do you?" Wakato asked. "Because if you don't I might give it a shot." His voice trailed off.
"No! You can't!" Kajimoto said loudly.
"So you do like her." Wakato said.
Kajimoto looked down. "...Maybe....H-Hai...I do."
Haruna blushed.
"I knew it!" Youhei and Kouhei said in unison.
Just then Haruna ran off to her locker. Her heart was beating four times faster then normal. She leaned against her locker and smiled. Ten seconds later she heard Kajimotos voice.
"Are you ready to go to class?"
Haruna turned to Kajimoto with a smile. "Hai."
"Sorry I took longer. I ran into the tennis team."
"It's alright." Haruna said. "Kajimoto?"
"Hai?"
"Do you...like anyone?" She looked at him.
Kajimoto was surprised by the question. "..maybe..." He said looking down.
Haruna giggled.
"What about you?" Kajimoto asked.
Just then the bell rang. "Time for class!" Haruna said with a smile, as she ran off to class.
School went by as usual. Soon it was time for lunch, and as for normal, Haruna sat with the tennis team.
She was laughing and talking with Kajimoto when a third year walked up to her.
Haruna was scared at first but she realized he seemed to be more frightened then she was.
"Hanamura Haruna, I like you a lot. Please go out with me." He said as he bowed. Kajimotos eyes slanted and he gripped his fist. Haruna blushed.
"G-Gomen. I'm flattered but...I like somone else." She said quietly.
"Hai! I understand." The boy said as he walked away.
Kajimotos fist eased up. The bell rang, and for that Haruna was thankful. She was sure the team would bug her about who she liked.
Class after lunch went along tediously. The only excitment was when the school secretary came through the door in the middle of class.
"Sorry for interupting class but there is a phone call for Hanamura Haruna." She said.
"H-Hai." Haruna said rising from her seat. Kajimotos eyes followed her as she exited the room. Haruna following the secretary to her office.
She saw the phone and slowly picked it up.
"Hello?" He said.
"I've missed you Haruna."
Haruna stopped breathing. Her heart seem to stop then start right back up again at three times the normal speed.
"Have you missed me?" The voice asked.
"H-Hai." Haruna lied. He voice was quiet.
"Do you want to see me?"
Haruna was quiet.
"They have me Haruna. You can free me and we can have a wonferful life as father and daughter. If you don't free me Haruna they will kill me. Come free me Haruna." The voice was angry but shaking.
"I-I can't d-do that." She studdered. "A-Are you i-in jail?" She asked.
"Hai, daughter, I am. Don't know what I did wrong. I thought you enjoyed me playing with you."
By "playing" she knew he meant "beating you to death"
"G-Gomen." Haruna said before hanging up the phone. Her eyes were wide and she struggled to breathe. She staggered back until she found the wall. She slid down it until she reached the ground. Her breathing was rough and uneven.
"Haruna, are you alright." The secretary asked.
Tears found their way to Haruna eyes. "Kajimoto." She said quietly.
"Nani? What's wrong dear?" The secretary was getting frantic.
"Please! Save me! Kajimoto! Help me!" She said loudly. She hugged her knees as she cried fiercly.
"I-I'll go get him dear." The secretary jumped to her feet and rushed for the door. But someone beat her to opening it. Kajimoto burst through the door.
"Haruna!" He exclaimed.
Haruna jumped up and ran into his arms. She held tightly to his shirt as she continued crying.
"Gomen. I heard you yell. What's wrong?" He said wrapping his arms around her in a tight grip.
"They have him, he's in jail. He wants to see me. He'll hurt me!"
Kajimoto stroked her hair. "You don't have to see him. He's locked behind bars. He can't hurt you. I won't let him." He comforted her.

Chapter 3 : Protect Love (Finale)
"Haruna dear you don't have to see him." Aoi said as she paced the living room. Haruna sat next to Kajimoto on the couch, wrapped up in her arms.
"I feel like I need to. I need to tell him something." Haruna said, she was done crying and was ready to face her father. "But I need Kajimoto to come with me."
"Of corse. I won't allow you to go alone." He whispered.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Aoi stopped pacing and looked right at Haruna.
"Hai." She said quietly.
"Alright." Aoi sighed. "When do you want to go?"
"Can we go now. I'm not sure when they're giving him the death penelty."
"H-Hai." Aoi said.
The ride to the prison was long and quiet. As they arrived Haruna began to shake.
Kajimoto took her hand. "I won't let anything happen to you." He smiled. Haruna smiled back and they walked up to the prison hand in hand.
The three of them walked by cell by cell as they followed the poilicemen to Rins cell.
"Here he is." The policeman said.
Haruna eyes grew wide as she saw the large red-haired man sitting at the back of the cell.
Kajimoto gritted his teeth as he imagined the built man beating Haruna. As the thoughts crossed his mind he placed his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him.
Haruna looked up at him and gave him a smile. She gently broke away from his grasp and walked up to the cell. She stared at her father with frightened but sweet eyes.
"Hello Father." She said quietly.
"Haruna." His voice was evil. At an inhuman speed he jumped up and prepared to punch. Kajimoto caught this and pulled Haruna back and jumped in front of her. Rins fist flew through the bars and collided with Kajimotos cheek. Kajimoto fell back.
"Kajimoto!" Haruna exclaimed as she rushed to his side.
"I won't let you hurt Haruna." He said glaring at Rin.
Anger took over Rins face but it was erased as he watched Haruna help Kajimoto up. A flashback of his wife and him went through his mind as he watched them. Haruna looked so much like her mother, beautiful. Years of guilt piled up at once as he thought of himself beating Haruna then Haruna being replaced by his wife. He grabbed his head and staggered back, breathinc unevenly.
"Father."
Rin looked up. Haruna was standing next to Kajimoto, her hand in his. Another memory of Rin and his wife ran through his mind.
"You have put hurt in my life for years. But none the less I came here to tell you.."
Rin stared blankly at her. Haruna smiled. "..that I forgive you." Rin watched dumbfounded as they walked away.
"Gomen, Haruna, gomen." He said to himself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One week had passed since Rins execution. Haruna stood at his tombstone.
"Haruna, are you alright?" Kajimoto walked up beside her.
"Hai." She said quietly. "Arigoto. That day. You protected me from him." She looked at him.
"Of corse I did. I said I'd protect you. I would never have forgiven myself if he had hit you." He said taking her hands in his.
"Why do you do it? Strive so hard to maintain my trust, to protect me from everything, to erase my fear?"
"Because...I love you." He said coming closer to her face.
"I love you too." Haruna said quietly before Kajimoto leaned in and gently pressed his lips against hers.
"Kajimoto?" Haruna asked after braking the kiss.
"Hai?"
"Could you...Could you teach me how to play tennis?" After all that had happen in the past month, Haruna was ready to be brave, but she would still be scared of somethings so Kajimoto could continue to be her hero.
"Hai, I will." Kajimoto smiled happily.
Started from that day, Haruna and Kajimoto live happily as a couple. Kajimoto promise to protect his lover, Haruna as well.
_THE END_
