“Looking at your necktie, you must be a new student. What's your name?” he asked.
“Yes, my name is.. (y/n), and you are..?” you bow and thank him.
“My name is Root, and I am one of the 6th members of Strawberry Prince!” he replied with a smile.
“eh? Rude? You're rude!?” you tilted your head a bit.
“... Root. R-O-O-T ROOT!!” he said as he let out a small sigh.
You giggles and wave at him as goodbye, you then went straight toward the library. You search for a book about composing music, few moments later, you saw Root and Satomi came to library. You were peeking Root behind the bookshelf, you keep smiling without realization. You clench your shirt and smiles, you thought that you might have fall in love with him for the first time. You went toward him and smiles wide, he look at you with a weird stare. You sat next to him and just bluntly confess that you fall for him.
“Root-san, I like you.. No, I think this is a love at the first sigh.. Do you believe it?” you said, giggling.
“huh!? What the hell are you talking about?” he feels annoys and get up then walkaway, leaving you and Satomi behind.
“ehh Root-san so rude..” you pout
“ah I'm sorry, etto.. (y/n)-san right? I heard your name before, well Root is actually a good guy, well he's good at become everyone's friend.” he said with a weary smile.
“but I want to make him as mine..” you crosses your arm, pouting hard.
Satomi smile awkwardly then excuses himself to go for a practice. You smiles at him and hold tight your book, you're thinking for a plan to make him fall in love with you. You follow Satomi in secret and peek on the window but you can't find Root. So you decided to tour around the school to find Root. You went to every inch of class but still couldn't find him. Then you walk near the sports club and saw Root talking with a girl. You hide behind the wall, eavesdrop their conversation. That girl confessed her feelings for Root but he rejected her. You smiles in excitement, thinking that you have the chance to confess to him. You still have a month left before that day appears, you finally fall in love with someone and you've decided to confess, but first you gotta try make him love you.
“Do your best, myself! I'm going to make him love me..” you smiles and walkaway.
» The Next Day «
“Root-saaaan!!! I LOVE YOUUU!!!” you shouted at him once you step into the gate school.
“uwah Root, it seems like you have a very cheerful fangirl there..” Nanamori laughed.
“She's kinda cute.. ‘Root-san~ Daisuki~” Jel mimicking you.
“...shut up! That's annoying, tskk.” Root feels annoys and cover his ears then walkaway fast.
“ehh?? Where did he go?? Root-sama!!!” you ran after him.
You keep chasing him, going everywhere he went. On recess time, you saw crowd of fangirl is surrounding Root. He seems uncomfortable in that situation, you end up barge in and grab his arm, a girl scratches your hand. Her nails sharp that it cause your hand to bleed. You smile at Root and pull his arm to get rid of the crowd, both of you running away far from anyone. You panting and laugh, you wipe your sweat and look at Root. He was laughing, you amazed to see his smile and laugh. You move closer and cup his cheeks, he stunned when you cup his cheeks. You smiles and release his cheeks. You bow at him, and confessed your feelings.
“Root-san, I truly like you since the first time we met.” you said as you bow.
“...(y/n)..” he called your name.
“Yes sir!” you look at him.
“Let's not fall in love.” he said. You were shocked, your hand trembling.
“eh..? But Root-san.. I..” you haven't finish your words but he continue.
“We don't know each other yet, actually I'm a little bit scared. I'm sorry, let's not make an appointment, we don't know if tomorrow will be another day. But this word kinda serious, I don't dislike you. I like you, but.. Can't we just stay like this?” he said with a weary look on his face.
“Why can't we fall in love? Hey, Root-san.. Answer me..” you asked.
“Do not ask anything, I can't answer now. We are happy together now, but why? Please don't get things more complicated. Just stay like that for awhile, my mind becomes increasingly hurt. What if one day things don't work well? Separation after frequently meeting and continue breaking. I can no longer find the meaning, such a stupid foolish. Mistake that wears a mask of love, feelings are all similar but as much as this moment, I just want you to stay.. We, stay just like this.” he continue his words.
“Please do not demand me too much, I also don't wanna lose you. Before it gets deeper, before you get hurt even more, please stop your feelings. Let's just stay as a friend, can we?” he said again.
You smiles wide and nods your head as in agreement. You want to cry but you held it, he smiles back and ruffles your hair then you take your leave. You walk and keep walking, you have nowhere to go. As you walk, your tears fall through your cheeks, your face turns pale, a blood came out of your nose. You fall on the ground, you fell unconscious. When you open your eyes, you're already in the hospital. Your personal doctor, Mr. Hasekawa said a male student with a pink hair brought you to the hospital. You know that the person would be, Satomi. You keep thinking of Root's word. It hit deep in your heart, but you never regret that you finally confessed your feelings.
» A Week Later «
You finally went back to school, you went straight toward the principal office and send a letter of drop out from school. You went back to meet SutoPuri members, Satomi and Jel. You thanks to Satomi and tell Jel that you remembered him as your childhood friend. Jel smile and hug you, you laugh with them. Until Root came, you stop laughing and bow to Root, you smile at him for one last time and went away. Root feels weird, he noticed you came with casual outfit. You give a small box to Jel, you told him to gave it to Root when the times come.
» A Month Later «
“Hasekawa-san, these past few days I feel so dizzy. My nose often bleeding, my hair keep falling and.. I often fell unconscious..” you said while hugging a teddy bear.
“(y/n), I'm sorry, I've tried and tried.. But, you've reached the upper level 4 and I can do nothing. (y/n), don't be scared.. Perhaps-” he haven't finish his words but you interfere.
“It's fine, I'm happy! I'm glad that I would die soon. So that I won't face the cruel reality of this world anymore. Ah so nice to die soon ~ I can't wait to die faster..” you said, looking out the window, your tears falling through your cheeks.
“I.. I..” you cried. “I don't want to die yet, I want to live longer.. I want to stay with him, I want to be with him. I want to feel happiness like normal people do.. Why can't I.. Why does this life is being so unfair to me.. Why me? Why me!??” you scream, punching the bed.
“(y/n)! Please calm yourself! Stay calm!” he hug you and tries to calm you.
You finally calm after few minutes cries. You decided to take a walk at the hospital garden. You went to the huge Sakura tree and look at the falling Sakura petals. Your tears fall, suddenly your vision turns darker and darker. You smiles for one last time before you let out your last breath, you fall on the ground. Few of Sakura petals falls on you.
» A Day Later «
“Hurry up Jel, we have to go there before they start to burn her body.” Satomi said.
“Ah yeah, hey.. I just, can't accept this.. We just finally met and laugh but now..” Jel rub his eyes, Satomi pats his shoulder.
“Her fate, we can't do anything about that..” Satomi wipe his tears away.
“Who are you talking about?” Root asked.
“Root, hey Jel.. You should give him that thing now.” Satomi said.
“Give me what?” Root asked in confusion.
“This..” Jel hand him a small white box. “It's from (y/n).” Jel said.
“(y/n)? Ah yeah, where is she? It's been like month since the last time she came to this school..” Root asked.
“Open that box and you'll know it. We'll be waiting for you outside. Please be patient..” Satomi said as both he and Jel went outside.
Root confused but he open the box and read a message. There's a small bracelet with the alphabet of (y/n) first letters and Root's first letters. He read the letter and stunned.
» Letter «
//Root, the moment you receive this letter, I already gone forever. I just want you to know, I really do love you and to just be your friend is hurting me. Root, I know it's hard for you, as Satomi and Jel told me, once ago you've failed in your first relationship but, I'm not the same as them. I truly love you, but I know this love does not have future. I have a brain tumor at level 4, ever since I met you at the registration day, I already set my heart for you but unfortunately, I was told by the Doctor that I can't live longer. So I set up a plan to get close to you, I pretended to fall that time, and bumped onto you. I finally able to confess to you and I never regret it. Hey, Root.. Right now, I will bring my first and last love to heaven. Root, you are the only one for me, but.. Let's not fall in love, it might hurt.. Both of us.. But this is a serious word I'm telling you, Root.. I love you.. Thank you for the best memories..//
Root cries out loud and run outside, he scream and mad at Satomi and Jel.
“Bring me to her! Hurry up slowpoke!” Root shouted.
“Calm down! Calm down Root!” Satomi tries to calm him.
“No! How the hell would I calm down!? She! (y/n)!!!” Root fall on the ground, crying.
Satomi and Jel calm him down, after an hours. He finally calmed down and the three of them went to your home. Meeting your Dad. Root went to the coffin and hold your hand, he cries and kisses your lips. It's cold, but.. He always wanted to kiss you. He cries, he finally confessed his feelings. He love you but he scared that your beautiful smile might turns into tears one day. Your soul came and hug him from behind, the cold chill feels on his neck. He widened his eyes, as he heard a voice whispering to his ears, “let's meet again, on our next life. And be together, forever.” Root wipe his tears, nodding his head. “Yes, I promise you, (y/n).”
